📢 Brief Summary

Visor is releasing improvements to the way we’re handling monthly sync credits. As a part of this work, we’re increasing the allotted number of credits for all users, enforcing limits to adhere to sync credit rules, and introducing a new way to track sync credit usage.

Until now, Visor had been tracking sync credit utilization but not informing users when they exceeded their plan allocation. After this activation, your Visor workspace will begin respecting the allocated sync credits of your plan.

This activation will proceed in three phases over two months, allowing you to ensure you can continue syncing your Visor workbooks without interruption.

Here are some important dates to keep in mind:

  • March 1, 2022 (Phase 1): The product will begin informing users when they near or exceed their limits. All workspaces get temporary waivers to continue past their sync credit limits.
  • March 15, 2022 (Phase 2): Workspaces created on or after February 24, 2022 will begin requiring sufficient sync credits to proceed with integration actions. Other workspaces created before February 24, 2022 will get an extra month of a courtesy waiver to exceed their plan limits.
  • April 15, 2022 (Phase 3): All workspaces will begin requiring sufficient sync credits to take certain integration actions.

Read on to understand how this change impacts your workspace and what you can do to prepare.

📈 Why is this changing?

Visor is growing quickly. Each month, there are twice the number of active users. We are incredibly excited to be growing with you, and we’re heavily investing in our people and systems to continue to support the growing community.

As part of this growth, Visor is maturing its systems for billing to provide you with a more streamlined experience and fair plan allocations. One step in this process is activating Visor’s monthly sync credit system. This will allow the Visor customers who use the system most to pay a fair amount for their usage.

In December, 2021, we launched a new system for tracking each workspace’s usage of sync credits. In the days since then, we’ve ensured this system was accurate, fair, and reliable. This data demonstrated that customers are using more sync credits than we originally expected, which is leading us to expand the allocations for all of our plans, including the Visor Free plan.

🪄 What’s changing?

There are two important changes happening now:

1) All Visor plans will include more

As part of our review, we’ve found that teams are using far more sync credits than we anticipated when designing the plan allotments, so we’ve decided to increase these allotments. We want to keep Visor’s Free plan as a great way for teams just getting started to experience the full value of Visor. And we want customers on the Visor Pro and Visor Ultimate plans to get more for their money.

Here is a summary of the changes to the plans, effective February 24, 2022.

  • The Visor Free plan now includes 15,000 monthly sync credits (up from 2,500). That’s enough credits to sync a medium-sized workbook (with 75 linked records and 8 connected fields) once every workday per month.
  • The Visor Pro plan now includes 250,000 monthly sync credits. That’s enough credits to sync 5 large workbooks (with 150 linked items and 15 connected fields) once every workday per month.
  • The Visor Ultimate plan now includes 500,000 monthly sync credits. That’s enough for twice-daily updates of 5 large workbooks (as sized above).
  • We’re launching a Sync Credit Booster Pack to add 50,000 sync credits to your Visor Pro or Visor Ultimate plan. You can purchase multiple of these packs. Sync Credit Booster Packs will be added onto the same billing cycle as your existing plan. Sync Credit Booster Packs are not available as an add-on for the Visor Free plan.
  • The Visor Pro plan now includes more views per workbook, increased from 10 to 15.

All plans will remain at their current prices.

2) The sync credit licensing system will begin activating

The activation of this system will proceed in three phases.

This banner will begin appearing in Visor for workspaces as their remaining sync credits falls below 20% of the original monthly allocation.

Phase 1) March 1, 2022

During this transition phase, you can begin making plans to ensure you have enough sync credits on your current plan. Feel free to reach out to the Visor Customer Success team if you would like an advanced review of your historical usage and projected needs.

  • The product will begin showing helpful messages as your workspace approaches the sync credit limit. When 20% or fewer remain, a banner will appear atop the workspace indicating what portion remain.
  • Any workspace that exceeds its monthly sync credit allotment will automatically receive a Transition Courtesy Waiver. The workspace can continue using sync credits, and the product will inform you of your usage.
When you have no remaining monthly sync credits and go to perform an action that requires them, you’ll begin seeing this in-product message.

Phase 2) March 15, 2022

The licensing system will begin activating for newer workspaces.

  • Any workspaces created on or after February 24, 2022 will begin checking your sync credit availability before allowing any actions that require sync credits.
  • Any workspaces created before February 24, 2022 will be granted an extension of the Transition Courtesy Waiver. This waiver will allow these workspace to continue running actions that require sync credits, even after none remain. You’ll be able to review your usage and select the appropriate upgrade option that meets your need.

Phase 3) April 15, 2022

The licensing system will be fully active on all workspaces.

  • All Transition Courtesy Waivers will expire.
  • All workspaces will begin checking sync credit availability.

💳 What are sync credits?

When you set up connections in your Visor workbook, it’s possible to pull and push data to connected apps like Jira, Salesforce, HubSpot, and more. Sync credits measure the amount of data being transferred.

Imports

When you run an import in Visor, each cell pulled into Visor counts as a sync credit.

Syncs

When you run a sync, each cell pushed and each cell pulled counts as a sync credit. Only cells with changes to push from Visor count as sync credits.

Refreshing Fields

When you refresh fields, Visor records one sync credit per record type refreshed.

Queries, Searches, and Lookups

When you run an operation to find records in a connected app from a Visor, each call counts as a sync credit. Searches happen in the connection field when you’re looking up records by name in a connected app. Searches also happen in other parts of Visor, such as when editing a Jira Assignee field or a Salesforce field of type “reference.” Queries happen when you configure or preview import counts or results. Keep in mind that copy-pasting certain values will also require sync credits if the destination field requires a lookup before setting the value.

❔ What happens when my workspace runs out of sync credits?

When your workspace runs out of sync credits, any running syncs or imports will complete fully. However, you will not be able to start certain actions that require sync credits. These include actions like importing, syncing, refreshing fields, or running queries.

You will not be responsible for overage charges if a running operation exceeds your workspace’s sync credit limit.

You will retain full access to all your data, and you can continue working in the workbook. That includes making changes in Visor to connected data.

When your monthly usage cycle resets again, your workspace will get a fresh allocation of sync credits. You can then run any operations that were blocked when no credits were available.

You can also upgrade your plan or purchase booster packs.

If you are on the Visor Free plan, we recommend upgrading to Visor Pro. If you have a Visor Pro workspace, you can consider whether an upgrade to Visor Ultimate or purchasing individual booster packs are a better option. Visor Ultimate workspaces can simply purchase additional booster packs.

⚖️ How many sync credits am I using?

Visor provides multiple ways to explore your sync credit usage.

See your current workspace usage and usage cycle reset date

Visit the Plan & Usage page in your Visor workspace. Towards the bottom, you’ll see a section showing your usage of monthly sync credits. It’ll also indicate when your usage resets.

Review individual activities that required sync credits

For certain activities that require sync credits, you can review their usage from the “Activity” page of the Connection modal within the relevant workbook. Open the workbook you’d like to analyze, and then click the “Connections” button in the top toolbar. From there, navigate to the “Activity” page for the connection of interest. Once that list loads, you’ll see recent actions and their associated sync credit usage.

👍 How can I maximize the impact of my sync credits?

We want you to get the most out of your current monthly sync credit allocation. Here are some tips to make the most of your credits.

  • Carefully manage your import settings to ensure that your workbooks only contain linked records you care about.
  • Review your connected fields for each connection, and remove from Visor any connected fields you don’t need. Be sure to review your hidden fields, too. (Hiding a field from a specific view does not stop it from syncing or using sync credits).
  • Consider using the table & gantt view to select specific records to sync. To do this, highlight cells in the rows you want to sync, and then right-click on the highlight. Select the option to sync those specific records.
  • Review your workbook filter settings to be aware of all the records in a workbook. Records that are filtered out from a certain view will still be included when a workbook sync begins.

➡️ What should I do next?

No action is immediately necessary. You can continue using Visor as normal. Starting today, you can check on your sync credit utilization against the allotment of your plan. And beginning on March 1, you’ll start receiving clearer messaging in the product if you are approaching your limit.
